The Highland Rim of the Compassionate Friends will be hosting its annual Worldwide Candle Lighting ceremony on the second Sunday in December to unite family and friends around the globe in lighting candles for one hour to commemorate and honor the memories of their loved ones who left too soon.
The Worldwide Candle Lighting ceremony will take place at the Church of Christ at Cedar Lane’s Outreach Center on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. Parents, grandparents, siblings and friends are invited to participate in this very moving event.
“The TCF Worldwide Candle Lighting is a gift that we give ourselves and our children each holiday season,” organizers said.
Participants are encouraged to arrive by 6:30 p.m. and to bring a memento or photo of their child, no larger than 8×10, and holiday finger foods to share after the ceremony.
“It is a beautiful and touching ceremony in which we insure that our precious children who have died will always be remembered,” organizers said. “At 7 p.m. in every time zone around the world candles will be lit for one hour creating a continuous circle of light. We will share a picture of our child always in our heart, speak each child’s name, and light a candle for them ‘that their light may always shine’.”
