Glenn Dewey Searcy Obituary
Glenn Dewey Searcy of Moore County passed this life on the 9th of December, 2024 at home in Moore County at the age of 79.
Glenn was born in Moore County to the late Calvin Coolidge and Leta Belle Holder Searcy on Nov. 1, 1945. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his Wife, Linda Faye Shockley Searcy and a son, Michael Glenn Searcy. He graduated from Moore County High School in Lynchburg and was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). In his youth he spent time coon and quail hunting, fishing, tending tobacco, plowing corn, hauling hay and riding his bicycle, along with picking wild blackberries and hiking through the wooded area on the family farm laying in leaf lined fox holes left from World War II soldier maneuvers.
During his adult life he enjoyed farming, collecting International Tractors and trucks and his pride and joy was his garden growing large cabbage heads the size of pumpkins. Always eager to share his garden produce. He retired from B.F. Goodrich/UTC Aerospace after 35 years of service making landing gear for airplanes.
He was a Moore County Commissioner for twenty years and served his country loyally in the United States Army in Vietnam.
He is survived by a son, David Wade Searcy, sisters, Shirley Hurley Lievanos (Rick), Barbara Ridner, Donna Brown, brothers, Doyle Searcy, Keith Searcy (Amanda), and his furry friend, “Baby Girl” his blue healer, uncle, Charles Holder and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the Searcy family was Friday Dec. 13 at Tullahoma Funeral Home with services following with Jim Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, or Vietnam Memorial Project.
