Riddle named Board Chair at Coffee County Bank

Local businessman and Coffee County High School alum Bud Riddle has been named Board Chair at Coffee County Bank.

Riddle fills the role following the passing of late Board Chair Ed Henley in November. Like Henley, Riddle is one of Coffee County Bank’s original founders. Riddle most recently served as board secretary, a role he had held since the bank’s beginning in 1975.

“I’m proud to step into this role as Board Chair at an organization which has meant so much to me and to the Coffee and Warren County communities for the last 50 years,” Riddle said. “I’ve been fortunate to serve on this board with dedicated, local leaders since we created the bank in 1975. Going forward, this board and leadership team will continue to focus on running the kind of community bank our customers expect and deserve.”

A successful businessman across industries – including the concrete, rock and trucking industry, as well as part owner of Murfreesboro Funeral Home, among others – Riddle also has a strong background in community bank leadership thanks to his tenure on the board. Riddle emphasized friendly, local bankers making local decisions is the hallmark of strong community banking.

“We know Coffee County and Warren County because we live, work and run businesses in these communities,” he said. “More than ever, it’s important people have access to local capital and banking services, and folks will always find those things at Coffee County Bank.”

Carter Sain, CEO at Coffee County Bank, said as a founding member and 50-year director, Riddle is an important link to the bank’s heritage and a key to its future.

“Not many banks continue to be led by their founders 50 years into existence,” Sain said. “Bud’s commitment to this role and our bank speaks volumes about who we are: true believers in what Coffee County Bank stands for and the things we offer our customers and our community.”

Riddle takes over as Chair as Coffee County Bank enters its golden anniversary year, celebrating 50 years in business in 2025. Started with one location and $1.1 million in capital, the bank has grown today to four locations and $387 million in total assets.
