TUA customers donate $31,700 to area nonprofits
Tullahoma Utilities Authority (TUA) customers donated $31,700 to area nonprofits in 2024, through their participation in the utility’s Round Up Program for charitable giving.
The TUA Round Up Program was established in 2020 as a Community Assistance Fund to be used to help those less fortunate in the community. Through the program, TUA customers donate an average of 50 cents per month by allowing their utility bills to be rounded to the nearest dollar. The extra change collected is placed into the Round Up Program Fund, administered by the TUA Board of Directors.
On the day of the presentations, Potter presented checks to the 13 local organizations that submitted applications for qualified programs.
The funds were allocated in the following amounts: $4,800 to The Shepherd’s House, $4,000 to 5 Loaves 4 Kids, $3,800 to Come to the Table, and $2,800 to Attic Outlet. Checks in the amount of $2,500 were given to the Henry Center and Good Samaritan Ministries. Checks in the amount of $2,000 were given to Coffee County Senior Citizens and Helping Hands Food Pantry and Clothes Closet. The Tullahoma Lions Club received $1,800. Checks in the amount of $1,500 were given to Coffee County Salvation Army, Partners for Healing and Hospice of the Highland Rim. The Tullahoma Day Center received $1,000.
“It’s putting this money back into the community,” said TUA President Allen Potter. “This is our customer’s money; this is not TUA’s money.”
The recipients of this year’s non-recurring donations applied to the TUA Round Up Allocation Committee for consideration at the end of last year. TUA will open its enrollment for 2026 disbursements in late 2025.
