Beginner beekeeping school set for February

The Elk Valley Beekeeping Association, in conjunction with the Franklin County Extension Service, is holding a beginner’s beekeeping school on Feb. 17 and 18 at 6 p.m.

The beginner class will be located at the Franklin County Extension Service at 330 Joyce Lane, in Winchester. Topics will include: setting up an apiary, equipment requirements, seasonal hive management, and integrated pest management techniques. This program is designed for youth as well as adults wanting to learn more about starting a beekeeping project.

Cost of the course will be $20 for the Beekeeping in Tennessee manual. If anyone is interested in starting a beekeeping project in 2025 the club has bee packages available for purchase. Please contact John Ferrell at 931-967-2741 for more information and to register by Friday, Feb. 7.
