The Imagination Library of Coffee County is inviting the community to both enjoy a green eggs and ham breakfast and support early childhood literacy in Coffee County.

The Green Eggs & Ham Benefit Breakfast will be held from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at Damron’s Restaurant in Tullahoma, located at 714 E. Lincoln St. Tickets cost $10, with free admission for children 4 years old and younger. All proceeds go toward providing books for children in Coffee County.

“Join us for delicious green eggs and ham breakfast with all the fixings and beverages provided with the help of owner of Damron’s Restaurant Gloria Damron, who’s always so generous with her time and support,” Bertha Smith, chairperson of Imagination Library of Coffee County, said. “This event is fun, and everyone participating helps to improve childhood literacy. The Imagination Library of Coffee County board members will be there to share information about the program. Enjoy breakfast and learn more about our program. Take the opportunity to sign your children up to receive books. It would also be wonderful if you make a donation.”

Smith encourages everyone to attend this event, which brings the community together.

“The smiles on children’s faces make me happy,” she said. “All members of Imagination Library of Coffee County appreciate the community’s help. Locals come to support our program every year, and that means so much. We appreciate the support of Damron’s Restaurant and are looking forward to a wonderful Green Eggs and Ham breakfast.”

The Imagination Library supports early literacy for children of Coffee County, instilling love of reading, enhancing school readiness, and improving academic success.

“The Imagination Library of Coffee County needs to raise funds to send the books out to the children at no cost to the family,” Smith said. “We depend on the community and appreciate all that the community of Coffee County has done for us.”

Imagination Library of Coffee County provides books to children from birth to age 5 in Coffee County every month thanks to a partnership with Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library selects the books, mails them, and covers operational overhead costs. The cost for purchasing the books is split between Imagination Library of Coffee County and Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation.

About 3,000 children in Coffee County receive books at no cost to their families every month.
