Lady Wildcats win three games in a row

After a 1-5 start to the season, the THS softball team are back on track. They picked up three wins in a row from Mar. 13 to Mar. 17, with wins over Marion County, Battle Ground Academy, and Huntland High School.
Over their win streak, the ‘Cats outscored their opponents 38-10. The team showed that although they had a slow start to the 2024-2025 season this team is competitive and can compete with anyone.
Marion County
Tullahoma displayed a dominant offensive and defensive performance against Marion County High School winning the contest 13-3.
The Lady Wildcats led 6-2 after four innings and were able to ultimately submit their win in the fifth inning scoring seven runs.
Kayleigh Campbell, Amaya Sharp, and Madi Goad hit RBIs in the inning helping Tullahoma put the game away. The ‘Cats ended the game with a total of 12 hits. Goad led the team with three hits while also leading the THS squad with six RBIs, while Aleigha Raby, Miaha Johnson, and Sharp all finished with two hits apiece.
Along with Sharp’s two-hit night, came an outstanding performance on the mound. She held the opposing Lady Warriors to the second-lowest run total of the season. She pitched five innings and allowed just six hits while throwing seven strikeouts.
The Lady Wildcats’ momentum from the big win wheeled into their next game against Battle Ground Academy.
Battle Ground Academy
Tullahoma gritted out a one-run win against BGA, winning 7-6.
The Wildcats trailed 5-1 through five innings of play, but similar to their game against Marion County, they were able to have a high-scoring inning late in the game. They went on to score five unanswered runs in the top of the sixth inning and added one more run in the seventh to sneak out the win over BGA.
In the sixth inning, Kaitlynn Gattis sniped a line drive single into center field scoring two runs for Tullahoma. Johnson added an RBI of her own with a double hit to the right field. The Lady Wildcats’ two other runs in the inning came from walks with the bases loaded.
Tullahoma ended the game with nine hits with Johnson and Campbell leading in the hit department with two hits each.
Huntland High School
The Wildcats added another blowout win in their win streak, beating Huntland High School 18-1.
The Wildcats raked in 13 hits with seven of their hits going for extra bases. Goad and Avanley Metcalf both hit doubles in the game and they also both homered.
The Lady Wildcats’ explosive offense was able to put this game away fast, as they had a 9-2 lead going into the third inning.
Sharp was on the mound for Tullahoma in the contest, pitching a total of four innings and getting six strikeouts on the day.
This team has already shown they are resilient after bouncing back from their early rough patch, and they will look to add to their three-game win streak with three games coming up this week—against Franklin County, Marshall County, and a repeat match against Huntland High School.
