Local nonprofit Horse Play, Inc. is hitching the saddle for its upcoming “Horsing Around” annual luncheon in April.

Horse Play in Tullahoma is a local non-profit providing therapeutic riding and hippotherapy program for children with special needs that is totally free for the children and their families. The organization provides free rehabilitative horseback riding opportunities for children with mental and/or physical challenges from Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Lincoln, and Moore counties. 

Horse Play, Inc. relies solely on the generosity of the local community, and this year’s luncheon serves as the nonprofit organization’s primary fundraiser.

“Beginning 28 years ago with borrowed horses and on loaned fields, Horse Play has relied on this luncheon as our primary fundraising event of the year,” Horse Play officials said.

This year’s “Horsing Around” Luncheon will be on Friday, April 11, at Grace Baptist Church, located at 1901 Ovoca Road. Curbside pick-up only is available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Delivery is available for orders of more than five meals. All orders must be called in to 931-455-5189 TOP Rehab by Monday, April 7.

 Tickets to the luncheon are $15 each. For the price of a ticket, customers will receive a plate with turkey and dressing, ham, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, green beans, with a roll and dessert. Residents can place their order in advance by calling 931-455-5189. If writing checks, checks are asked to be written to Horse Play and mail to or drop off at TOP Rehab at 2110 N. Jackson St., Tullahoma to reserve your meals.  

The event has seen success each year with the help of local businesses, churches, local corporate sponsors and individual donors. The money raised during the luncheon helps support the daily operating expenses, including the care and feeding of the horses, a major part of our budget. The luncheon also provides funding for future program projects such as driveway and drainage improvements and arena upgrades.
