Glick denies allegations in Brice suit

In response to the settlement of the $5 million federal lawsuit filed against the city of Tullahoma by former HR Director Casta Brice, Alderman Kurt Glick, who was mentioned prominently in the suit, denies the allegations made by the former city employee and hopes that the whole truth will come out in the end.
The amount of the settlement will not be revealed due to a privacy agreement that came along with the case being dismissed with prejudice. Brice maintained she was the target of retaliatory actions due to her stand against cronyism in the city. She also maintained she was treated unfairly due to her being multi-racial. She pointed out that she was suspended with pay due to questionable terms and then that her position was deleted by the city. She said she felt betrayed by her former employer.
Meanwhile Glick says he also feels wronged when it comes to allegations Brice made against him in the lawsuit. In his letter to the Tullahoma News, Glick said he felt he needed to address the coverage of the Brice settlement.
“First, I want to emphasize my continued commitment to serving the people of Tullahoma with integrity and transparency. Public service is a responsibility I take seriously,” Glick said. “Regarding the recent settlement of Ms. Brice’s lawsuit against the city, I understand that settlements are often business decisions made to avoid the substantial costs and uncertainty of continued litigation. While I personally disagree with the characterizations and allegations made against me in that lawsuit, I respect that it is ultimately the city’s determination whether to settle a case. The decision to settle should not be interpreted as an admission that the allegations have merit.”
Glick says he denies the allegations in the suit and has always had the best interest of Tullahoma at heart.
“I categorically deny the characterizations and allegations made against me,” Glick said. “The suggestion that I engaged in retaliation or pursued a personal vendetta is false. My actions as both a former department director and as an alderman have always been guided by what I believe to be in the best interests of our community and taxpayers. I look forward to the opportunity to present the full facts in the appropriate legal forum. I remain focused on my duties as an alderman and on addressing the important issues facing our city. I am grateful for the support I have received from many in our community who know my character and my dedication to Tullahoma. I ask for patience as the legal process unfolds, and I look forward to the day when all facts can be presented fairly and completely.”
