City to celebrate Arbor Day

The City of Tullahoma is inviting residents to celebrate Arbor Day this Friday, April 25, at Frazier McEwen Park.

This year’s celebration start at 11 a.m. and will focus on the importance of trees to Tennessee’s economy. Guest for the event will include members of the Tennessee Valley Wood Worker’s Association, the Tullahoma Tree Board, and George Dickel Distillery. Tullahoma Mayor Lynn Sebourn will also present the annual Arbor Day Proclamation, as well as mark both Tullahoma’s 28th consecutive year as a Tree City USA and Tullahoma Utility Authority’s 14th year as a Tree Line USA utility. Food trucks will be on site for lunch.

“At this event, we will unveil a new interpretive sign noting three specific trees important to Tennessee: the Tulip Poplar, the Sugar Maple, and the White Oak,” city officials said in a statement. “These three trees have been planted in the park with the sign to create a learning space on how trees benefit us environmentally and economically.”

The event is free to attend and open to the public.
