The Tullahoma Kiwanis Club recently awarded its 2025 Layperson of the Year at the 41^st annual prayer breakfast held on Saturday, April 26 at Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma.

The Tullahoma Kiwanis Club receives nominations from area clergy each year and one is chosen based upon the individuals service to their church and greater community.

The prayer breakfast honors the local clergy, and its support systems for the work they do to improve the Tullahoma community on a daily basis.

This year’s recipient was Larry Oakes. Larry was nominated by Rev. Stephen A. Klasek, pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Oakes was recognized for his work within the church on a daily basis, visiting homebound, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Oakes is a member of the Knights of Columbus men’s organization which supports many local charities. He also works with Good Samaritan ministries in their food pantry and on the board.
