“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21. Did you know that your words have power? Our words of negativity have just as much power as our words of positivity- use them wisely.
As I was sitting in a meeting the other day, I could feel myself having to navigate each word that exited my mouth. Is it beneficial to the conversation? Is it factual or is it a feeling? Will it help bring resolution or add more chaos? We are all human and make mistakes but grasping control of our reactions to situations will bring about a peace that is seemingly unexplainable. When you follow Christ, you have a front row seat to the gift of discernment. Of course, discernment is only a gift if you earnestly ask for it – once you see God work through guidance and revelation you simply can’t lose this beautiful gift. I don’t ever want to walk into a situation without the spirit led discernment of Christ. My flesh is weak therefore it is easily overcome with emotions and words, but with the Lord walking ahead we can rest assured that we won’t be made weak unto our flesh. “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41.
We have the power and authority to speak life over situations, to cast down assignments plotted against our lives, to bring about protection and to bring order into the atmosphere with just the sound of our voice! How is this possible? It’s only possible by speaking and declaring the Word of God in every situation and season. Before walking into that meeting, I declared for God to go ahead of me to prepare a place for resolution, understanding and His will. I used my voice to speak God’s power into existence and left the rest to His perfect plan. That being said, declaring defeat, sickness, despair and sadness over your story can, and most likely, will be used as a tactic by the enemy. The devil doesn’t have the authority to know your thoughts or heart intimately, you let him in to your life when you speak words that he can use to create havoc on you.
You tell him just what he wants to hear when you speak negative about your life or situation. This week make sure you are declaring VICTORY, JOY, HEALTH, LIFE, VISION, INCREASE and EXPANSION over every area of your journey. When you speak it, it will come right back into your spirit echoing every promise you make over yourself. Use your voice wisely – it has the power to return unto you life or death!
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Luke 6:45
