The Arnold Community Council (ACC) recently awarded two scholarships to local high school seniors who demonstrated a passion for leadership and a commitment to making positive impacts on their communities.  Ms. Elsie Lazalier of Coffee County High School received the ACC $500 Claude Morse Memorial Scholarship. Morse is credited for his efforts to promote the work performed at AEDC, headquartered at Arnold Air Force Base. He was honored as an AEDC Lifetime Achievement Fellow in 2016.

Mr. Parker Campbell of Tullahoma High School received the ACC $500 Mike Niederhauser Memorial Scholarship.  Mike was a local businessman and staunch advocate for Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC).

The ACC was established in 2000 to promote, protect, and preserve AEDC and to facilitate interaction and cooperation between AEDC and the surrounding communities.  The ACC represents thirteen southern Middle Tennessee and Alabama counties and currently has more than 350 members.  Members of the Council visit the Tennessee Congressional delegation and other key members of the U.S. Congress each year and keep open communications with members of the Tennessee Legislature and local governments.  The Council sponsors awards to honor AEDC quarterly and annual military award winners.  ACC also supports the annual AEDC veteran’s picnic, the AEDC children’s Christmas party, the Honor Flight of Middle Tennessee, and Wreaths Across America. The Council leadership plans to continue working to protect and support AEDC and to continue strengthening relationships with community councils at our sister bases in the test enterprise.
