Mayes to edit vintage motorcycle magazine
Tullahoma resident, Alan Mayes, has been selected to edit the bimonthly Vintage Japanese Motorcycle magazine. The magazine is published by the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club of North America (VJMC). His tenure will begin with the August/September issue.
Alan has authored the Tullahoma News’ weekly Sunday history column, “Flashback – Tullahoma in the Past,” for the past two years. Previously, he was the managing editor for two hot rod and custom car magazines, Ol’ Skool Rodz and Car Kulture DeLuxe, for 17 years. Additionally, he has authored five non-fiction books about custom and hot rod cars and motorcycles. He has been a freelance contributor to many automotive and motorcycle magazines, newspapers, and books, as well. He is also currently the Advertising Account Manager for The Antique Motorcycle magazine.
In 2023, Alan was the curator of a popular art exhibit at the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center. That well-attended exhibit, “Lowbrow Meets Kustom Kulture” featured paintings and other art items from several highly regarded lowbrow and automotive artists from across the United States and Japan.
