XC sees 48 show up for assessments

With the school building shutting down, the XC team is just starting up. 48 THS and TMS runners showed up for XC assessments. This is the largest turnout that Tullahoma has ever had.

In the three years, XC at Tullahoma has shifted from a club sport to a TSSAA-sanctioned sport at both Tullahoma Middle and High School. In that short stretch of competition, both schools have racked up achievements. All four teams–girls middle, girls high, boys middle, boys high–have qualified for the state at least one time. The girls’ high school team has qualified every year of XC being a sanctioned sport at Tullahoma schools.

These were the results for the girls’ high school team at state this past year.

The girls’ XC team had seven runners compete at the TSSAA Cross Country Championships–Julianna Etes, Brindley Duncan, Katie Grace Nichols, Bella Rivera, Addie Colvin, Lexi Lester, and Audrey Sohrabi.

Out of the seven girls who represented Tullahoma, three placed in the top 60 out of 243 runners at the event. Etes placed 60th with a personal best time of 21:50.54., Duncan placed 48th with a time of 21:23.22, and Nichols placed 47th with a personal best time of 21:20.92.

They finished the meet in 12th place out of 31 teams.

Some other notable performances from the XC programs from the Tullahoma Schools are that the TMS Boys and Girls teams have had three state medalists over the past three seasons. The girls’ team also placed third at state in 2023.

Tullahoma XC is already working hard this year to bring in more of these achievements.
