This past week saw boots on the ground at Joe Moon Field as members of the Tennessee Army National Guard began work on the partnership project with the Tullahoma Parks and Recreation Department.
“We’re happy to announce that the beginning of our partnership project with the Tennessee Army National Guard Community Assistance Program through the 194th Engineering Brigade has begun,” parks and rec officials said. “Members of the 230th Engineering Battalion were on-site today beginning some of the minor building work at the newly-named Joe Moon Field.”
More is planned later this summer and fall for land surveying, excavation and construction throughout the park.
The project came to be when it was presented to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen back in March. According to City Administrator Jason Quick, the Tennessee Army National Guard offered the community assistance project to the city at Waggoner Park to help expand parking and improve drainage. The work would consist of land surveying, excavation and other construction.
“If you travel into the central parking lot area, please use caution as it is now an active construction area,” parks and rec officials said. “We’re excited to see the start of many planned upgrades.”
