TCS to serve free breakfast, lunch for all students during 2025-26 school year

Every Tullahoma City School student will once again have access to free breakfast and lunch for the 2025-26 school year, after the district qualified for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

“Our first year as a district-wide CEP school system was successful. We increased our participation by 25 percent in breakfast and 12 percent in lunch,” said TCS Director of Nutrition Angela White. “This success is not only due to free meals for all but also by offering breakfast in alternative locations and at extended times to ensure that all students can start the day with a fueled body, helping to enhance their learning experience and set them up for success.”

As Tullahoma will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision, the district will not need parents or guardians to fill out free and reduced meal applications. Students can take advantage of the district’s à la carte program by purchasing extra items to accompany their meals. Funds can be added to student accounts by sending cash or a check to the school cafeterias or through the new portal, School Café, at www.schoolcafe.com. Those needing instructions for using this platform can do so by visiting www.tcsedu.net/departments/school-nutrition/links.

“This is wonderful for our school district,” said TCS Director of Schools Dr. Catherine Stephens. “As our Director of Nutrition pointed out, we saw a tremendous increase in meal participation, which led to positive impacts in the classroom. I cannot thank Angela and the rest of the nutrition department enough for ensuring that all students have access to free breakfast and lunch.”
