Piñatas win back-to-back games

Another slate of matchups for the Tullahoma Adult Baseball League took place on July 21. Here is a recap of those games played.
Piñatas vs Athletics
The Piñatas picked up their second win in a row over the Athletics, winning 9-1. Although they only got three hits in the game, the Piñatas were able to capitalize on the Athletics’ pitching woes. They especially did this at the bottom of the opening inning. The first three batters for the Piñatas got on base with walks. JD Parker was able to get one runner home on a fielder’s choice hit, and Vann Boyce added another RBI with a sacrifice fly. Trevor Sanders and Jarrett Dickens then helped score two more runs–Sanders with an RBI double, and Dickens putting a ball in play that resulted in an error. This took the sails out of the Athletics, as the Piñatas cruised the rest of the way to victory. The Piñatas on the season are now 2-3, while the Athletics are now 1-3.
Shebvul Shovels vs Royals
It was a high-scoring game between the Royals and the Shebvul Shovels, and the Shovels came out on top, winning 13-9. The Shovels came out of the gates hot, putting up seven runs in the first inning, but the Royals were there to answer the call. They fought back, putting five runs in the first, and followed it with three in the second to get an 8-7 lead. In the third, unfortunately for the Royals, the Shovels shut the door on their momentum. They fired back with a six-spot in the third and gained a 13-8 lead. Nick Hopper opened the scoring in the third for the Shovels with a two-run RBI single. Disaster then struck for the Royals after Jayden Fellers sent a ground ball into play. They had an error trying to throw him out at first, and this allowed three runs to come in for the Shovels. The last run of the inning was scored by another error, on a fly ball hit by Austin Johnson.
The top performers in this bout were Shovels Logan Green and Royals Clint Fanning. Green had no problem getting on the base pass in his outing. He had a single and two walks on the day. Fanning for the Royals was perfect from the plate. He went 2-2, had three RBIs, and had a walk.
The Shovels after the contest remain undefeated at 4-0, and the Royals’ record is now 2-2.
