July is National Recreation and Parks Month, and the Tullahoma Parks and Recreation Department is closing out the month by celebrating the completion of several projects over the past year.
“We want to highlight the multiple projects Tullahoma Parks and Recreation has started and completed, along with some of our community partners, over the last year,” city official said.
The projects that were completed in the last year were:
• The Johnson Lane Restroom and Concessions Pavilion
• Splash Island roadside landscaping
• The Softball Batting Cages at Johnson Lane with Tullahoma Sports Council
• The Rocket Playground resurfacing at Frazier McEwen Park
• The Mayor Lane Curlee and Evelyn Curlee Greenway bridge renovation over Rock Creek at Cascade Park
• The Notorious Rockeater Mural at Frazier McEwen Park with the Arts Council of Tullahoma
• The National Guard Community Assistance Project at Waggoner Park
• Splash Island Pump Room renovations
• HVAC Renovations at D.W. Wilson Community Center
• The Joe Moon Field renovation and grand opening at Waggoner Park
• New Basketball Goals at D.W. Wilson Community Center
• Gym Floor resurfacing at C.D. Stamps Community Center
• The Greene Field Backstop and landscaping at Waggoner Park
• The Mullins Football Press Box Platform at Waggoner Park
City officials added that there are still several smaller projects in the works that are set to be finished by the end of the year.
“One of those projects is underway right now at Imagination Station playground, as the iconic red spires on the play features are getting a new and shiny coat of red paint, and new mulch from tip to tail inside the playground will be down within the month,” officials said.
Also on the schedule for the fall is the resurfacing and striping of the D.W. Wilson Community Center’s parking lot.
“Many more projects are in the planning phases now,” officials said. “Thank you for your support of Parks and Recreation, Tullahoma!”
