NHC is building a new addition to their Cedar Lane campus, adding assisted Alzheimer’s living as well as offering a memory care facility.

The plan was revealed by developers who appeared before the Tullahoma Planning Commission at the July 22 meeting. Gary O’Brien with LeBella Associates–civil engineers for the project–said the plan is to have 56 in Alzheimer’s assisted living and 23 in memory care. The new NHC facility will be at 1339 Cedar Lane and is owned by National Healthcare Corporation.

Interim Director of Planning and Development Samuel Luthi clarified the facility will be built north of the existing healthcare facility (to the right if facing the front of the current building). The addition will be to supplement the existing facility as the existing facility will remain.

“It will be Alzheimer’s assisted living and memory care–a more specialized facility for those types of patients,” Luthi told the planning commission.

Luthi pointed out there were a couple of requests public works had for the project, none of which would have any major impact on the plan. First, city engineers want developers to extend the sidewalk to the north line of the property. Secondly, public works requested that the drainage conform to regulations and that no drainage be over Cedar Lane itself. The developers said they would be “glad” to meet the city’s requests on the project.

The site plan was passed unanimously by the planning commission.
