The standings saw a big change in the latest group of games in the Tullahoma Adult Baseball League. Here are the results from the games played on Aug. 7.

Piñatas vs Stache

Two of the best teams in the league squared off on Monday night, the Piñatas and the Stache. The Piñatas ended up grabbing the win in the bout convincingly, beating the Stache 9-2. The Piñatas are now on a six-game win streak. This win for them came from big innings in the first and the second, where they scored all their runs. In the top of the first, the first three runners for the Piñatas got on base without getting any outs. They then scored off a one-run single from Ryan Emerson. Vann Boyce capped off the scoring in the inning with a grand slam home run, giving the Piñatas a 5-0 advantage. In the second inning, where they scored their other four runs, two players got RBI hits. Luke Davidson got an RBI double, and Trevor Sanders had an RBI single. The other two runs in the frame came from an error and an RBI groundout.

The Piñatas’ solid pitching allowed them to ease to a win the rest of the way, as their offense came to a halt. Boyce pitched all five innings in the game, allowing three hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts.

After the game, the Piñatas, after starting the season at the bottom of the standings in the first two weeks, now stand at the top of the standings with a 6-3 record. The Stache sits right behind in the standings with an identical record of 6-3.

Reds vs Outlaws

The Outlaws were looking to be knocking on the door of their first win of the season, but they grabbed another loss. They lost to the Reds on Monday, 11-5.

The Outlaws gained an early lead in this contest with a big second inning. The Outlaws pieced up the Reds’ pitching, putting up three runs without getting an out. The first five batters boarded, and Alex Arroyo, Nick Howell, and Z Pullen all secured RBI hits in the inning. The Outlaws, after the inning was said and done, had a 4-1 lead.

The Reds, however, came back with an offensive onslaught of their own, scoring three runs in the top of the third and tying the game at 4-4. They then scored a combined seven runs over the fifth and sixth innings compared to the Outlaws’ one over that period. This was more than enough to give the Reds their fifth win of the season.

Tyler Wright and Cody Stephens were the main offensive contributors for the Reds. Burnett had a game-high in hits and RBIs, with three hits and four RBIS. Stephens and Wright both had two RBIs in the contest.

The Reds are now 6-3, and the Outlaws are now 0-8 on the season.

Shebvul Shovels vs Athletics

The Shovels grabbed a shutout win over the Athletics, beating them by a score of 9-0.

After losing two games in a row from July 24-28, the Shovels seem to be back to their winning ways. They won last week in a shutout and stamped another this week. They submitted their advantage early in this contest against the Athletics, scoring all nine of their runs through the first two innings. In those frames, they gathered twelve hits. Blake Bone, Caden Thomas, Sam Holley, and Dylan Norris all went 2-2 in the game. The Athletics in the shortened game, spanning only two innings, did not pick up a hit. Jacob Hawkins Shovels’ pitcher was the one responsible for this. He had two strikeouts and allowed two walks over the no-hitter.

The Shovels sit right behind the jumble of the three 6-3 teams in the league standings with a 5-3 record. The Athletics sit right above the Outlaws at the bottom of the standings with a 2-5 record. The team closest above them is the Royals with a record of 4-4.
