The Tullahoma Middle School and High School XC teams were in action over the weekend and picked up some rather impressive results. Here is a recap of all four of the teams’ performances.

TMS

The middle school track team competed in the MSCCA Middle School Championship on Sept 4. Across both the girls and boys teams they had two medalists. On the boys’ team, Lincoln Price followed his first-place finish at the Coffee County Invitational with another top-10 performance, finishing ninth. This was an extremely impressive performance from Price, given the size of the field of the event–417 competitors. On the girls’ side, Ashleigh Johnson followed up her third-place finish from last week with a 13th-place finish out of 262 competitors. Both Price and Johnson are currently ranked inside the top 50 in the state. Johnson is ranked 38th, and Price is ranked 49th.

At the event, the boys’ team placed 13th overall out of 33 teams, while the girls’ team placed 12th out of 22 teams.

“Both of our middle school teams have performed well so far this year. We have lots of new, young talent led by several veteran 8th graders who were on our state qualifying teams in 2023. Two of our middle school runners have qualified individually for state, and one was a medalist at the elementary level last year. It’s exciting to see the middle school program continue to grow and thrive!” said XC coach Angel Dodson regarding the middle school teams.

THS

Although the football team were able to play their game on Friday despite some threatening weather in the area with lightning strikes being sprinkled throughout their contest, the XC team in Hermitage had to push their meet back to Saturday. And despite the delay, there was no slowing down the Wildcats once they passed the starting line at the Voyles Classic. Out of both the girls’ and boys’ teams, like the middle school teams, they also had two medalists. Those medalists were Lukas Price and Brindley Duncan. Price in his competition secured a seventh place finish out of 144 racers. He submitted a time of 17:12. Duncan placed 13th out of 101 racers with a time of 21:46. Along with these two stout times from the two members on the Wildcats XC team, there were several other people from THS who put up great times. At the event, six members recorded PRs— Price, Jackson Ites, Brodie Howard, Jeffery Lopez-Shrum, William Nichols, and Major Montoye.

Tullahoma at the event had an overall fourth-place finish out of the 10 teams competing.

“Our two high school teams have so much talent! Our girls’ team has qualified for state 4 years in a row, and the boys made it in 2023 after 18 years,” said coach Dodson.

“The level of talent on our team this year is impressive, and we should perform well at regionals with an excellent chance of both teams making it to state!”
