Biggest Deal
K
“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.” Matthew 10:29. When my children come to me upset about a situation, I always ask, “What is the biggest deal?”.
It started as a bit of a joke to say “biggest” instead of “big”, but for whatever reason God allowed me to carry it through year after year. It has become an endearing question as I seek to find out what is troubling them most about the situation or problem. There are many details that lead up to the issue, but by asking this question I am quickly seeking resolve. How many times have you carried around a problem without taking the time to let God know exactly what is troubling you? After all, as the verse above implies, our Father’s love for us is even greater than a sparrow yet He knows the depths of their existence as well. We often talk to the Lord in prayer by letting Him know all the little issues, the wrongdoings, the people who have contributed to the hurt and even our choices that have caused the pain– but do we truly talk to Him about the biggest deal? You know that thing that keeps you up at night, the pit in your stomach or the fear that often capsizes your boat? God wants to know. There has never been a time more than now to face our fears and boldly approach the throne of God.
We must be able to overcome the obstacles that hold us back before we can ever walk into all that God has called us to do. “The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.” Psalm 148:18. My children both understand that when they come to Mama with what distresses their heart, mind and body that there will be a resolution to their trouble. It may be kissing a boo-boo, mending a broken heart after mean words were said, cleaning up a mess or saying a prayer – a solution WILL happen. Friend, your solution and healing are in the surrender. I challenge you to go to God with your “biggest deal” this week, an issue He intimately already knows and has an answer to. Once we determine what we are up against, my children and I create a plan to overcome and move on with our day.
Since I have young children, it is usually only a short moment of discontent, and the answer is usually easy – sound familiar? What a beautiful revelation that our greatest turmoil is no match for the Father nor can the darkness of it all outshine His light of truth! Once you can release the yoke, you will begin to realize that holding that thing hostage within yourself was only the distraction – a tactic from the enemy to keep you stagnant in the suffering. I have been learning in my walk with Christ that there is no request too big or too small for His all-encompassing awareness of our lives.
You don’t have to wonder of God for your life – the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is evidence enough that every detail matters. The small things are important but prayerfully run to Him today and submit the biggest deal of your life….He will supply.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19.
Blessings,
Kayla
