Tullahoma MS XC Sectional Results
GRAY DEYOSports Writer
The Tullahoma Middle School XC team competed at the sectionals event, as their 2025 season begins to come to a close. Several runners had big days for the Wildcats at the event.
What a year it has been for the Tullahoma XC programs, and what a year it has been for the middle school teams, especially. The sectional event was the TMS team’s second to last event of the season, and everyone who was a member of the team made sure to finish the season strong.
Nine runners recorded PRs at the meet: Isaac Bitton, Riley Prosser, Jamison Szmodis, James Davenport, Carter Hayes, Hudson Bussell, Hudson Byrd, Preston Russell, and Logan Williams.
Overall, as teams at the event, the Tullahoma girls had a seventh-place finish out of 12 teams, while the boys team had an eighth-place finish out of 14 teams. Two runners at the event for Tullahoma had good enough outings to secure their spot in the final meet of the season–the state meet at Weakley Park in Clarksville, TN. Those two runners were Lincoln Price, representing the boys’ team, and Ashleigh Johnson, representing the girls’ team. The two have been at the top of the leaderboards in about every event Tullahoma has competed at this year. They are more than worthy of their spots, and it will be exciting to see how they perform. Johnson in sectionals had an eighth-place finish out of 88 competitors, and Price also finished in eighth place out of 106 competitors.
Update: There was a change in the sectional results of instead of allowing just the top six runners into state, they are now allowing the top eight. Because of this the Wildcats XC team will now have three runners in the event. Claire Hyden on the girls’ team, now qualifies for state with a 21st place finish at sectionals.
The state meet will be at 9 a.m. on Oct 4.
