Stand
K
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13. I have been hearing lately how we are supposed to “act” as Christians as this world continues to spin into darkness. I have been told to not “act in anger”, to “remain peaceful”, to “just stay still” and so on, but I have yet to hear the word commanding us to stand! The scripture above calls for an action that I have come to the realization that a lot of parents in my generation seem fearful or even lazy to walk towards.
Standing as referenced above is a command to defensively resolute perseverance in the face of evil and hold our ground as believers when the spiritual attacks come. Friends, spiritual warfare is real, and it has come full force and front in center. If you claim to be a Christian and have not felt this atmospheric shift, then I challenge you to examine your heart and the truth that is buried within. I believe there are some people, pastors and even churches who are in a state of deep slumber. “Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.” Proverbs 19:15. If you have ever been in a deep sleep on a lazy Sunday afternoon you can testify that during that sleep you became oblivious to all the things going on within your home.
It is a wonderful feeling to be able to rest in such a way, but in the spiritual, this type of sleep is very dangerous. As the battle around you gets greater, we must be able to discern and take action that brings about resolve and victory. Have you prepared for the battle or are you just hoping someone else will step up to the enemy lines? Now you make be asking what it means to stand? Some may think that standing for truth involves engaging with someone on social media who does not know the Father, seeking revenge or even acting in anger, but I can promise you that standing strong in the Lord is quite the opposite. I have said many times over the last few weeks that I have felt a righteous anger in my soul as a Christian mother – a God centered response to an injustice to children that I have witnessed.
It is not a personal offense because I know we fight not against flesh and blood, but it is driven by my desire for truth and light to reign above the evil. If you are willing to stand, you must first know that your ability to remain upright is solely through the Lord and not your own power. You recognize that although the enemy uses others to fulfil his evil agenda, the battle is not against those he chose. You must be alert, soberminded, clear headed and intentional with your actions when responding to this type of battle. When you allow the flesh to walk ahead you lose force and stamina – people may even begin to think you are overreacting. Your job as Christian is to counteract the darkness with light and shift the atmosphere with action – this happens through prayer and prayer alone. I took a stand last week as I joined in a Jericho inspired march over a situation in our community, but if you know the story, six of the seven trips around the city were done in complete silence and prayer. It was only after God instructed on the seventh march that sound should proceed from the mouths of those believers.
There are times as Christians that sharing our thoughts through words is also a beautiful piece to the victory, but even those must be done in truth. Are you standing up to the battles in your life and the lives of others or have you decided that closing your eyes to the world is easier? I encourage you to start standing – if nothing else I pray you start standing for the future generations. As I watched my daughter lead prayer at the flagpole of her school last week, I realized even though she is only ten, she has more courage and bravery than most adults I encounter on a daily basis. Quit walking in fear….the children of this world are depending on your stance!
“And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.” Philippians 1:28.

Kayla
