Man charged for firing at police

A local man faces 15 counts of reckless endangerment after he allegedly opened fire from a residence with some of the shots targeting Tullahoma police officers.
The suspect, Christopher Robert Owen, 34, faces 15 counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, simple possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, abuse of 911 calls, cruelty to animals, evading arrest, and two counts of assault on a first responder.
Police responded to a call of shots fired at a Tullahoma residence on Lake Hills Road. They then tried to reason with him over the phone but he allegedly became even more irate.
“He started firing shots out of the residence window,” the warrant against Owen reads, noting that he fired a total of 15 rounds. “Two were fired in the direction of officers.”
After the standoff, Owen reportedly tried to flee out of a garage door but was confronted by several officers.
“He still had the firearm in his hand and dropped it when confronted,” the warrant alleges.
The cruelty to animals charge came after a dog was found malnourished inside his residence. The abuse of 911 call came because he allegedly made several calls to 911 but would say a few words and then hang up.
He had his opening hearing date on Sept. 29.
