Woman found dead on Sixteenth Model Road

An as-yet unnamed 53-year-old woman was found dead of a gunshot wound Sunday, according to Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.

According to police, at approximately 3:40 p.m., on Oct. 26, officers from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the 1800 block of Sixteenth Model Road.

Upon arrival, officers located a 53-year-old female who was deceased from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Attorney General Craig Northcott said, “An adult female was found deceased at or near Walden’s Gun Range. Her body has been sent to the medical examiner for an autopsy to determine manner and cause of death. She appears to have suffered a gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing.”

Police report that at this time, there is no indication of foul play.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

“The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and friends of the individual involved,” the office announced.
