Where to go in Tullahoma for food assistance

With the ongoing government shutdown and delay of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, several organizations in Tullahoma are stepping up to offer assistance to those in need.
The city of Tullahoma put out a list of some of the organizations that can offer assistance and resources to those in need. Officials noted that the list is not all-encompassing, but services are available to anyone who needs help.
The organizations can help those include:
Attic Outlet – 302 W. Hogan Street, 931-393-3002. Food drive starting Thursday, Oct. 30, Store hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Catholic Charities – 103 S.E. Atlantic Street, 931-563-7770. It has food pantry and some household goods, not limited to Tullahoma only – required to have driver’s license, Monday- Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., please call ahead for an appointment and information.
Good Samaritan – 210 E. Grundy Street, 931-393-3626. It has food pantry (can use once per month) and rent/ utilities assistance (once per 6 months), Tullahoma residents only – need driver’s license and one piece of mail to show proof of residence, open Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9 a.m. – noon, please call ahead for an appointment and information.
First Christian Church – 201 N.W. Atlantic Street, 931-455-2200. Has food pantry for Tullahoma residents only, Monday- Thursday 8 a.m. – noon and 1 – 3 p.m., people can use it once every three months, no need for appointment.
Westside Church of the Nazarene – 123 Westside Drive, 931-455-6382. Check in at Highland Baptist Church, 808 W. Hickory Street to reserve a place in line, Fridays from noon – 2 p.m.
Henry Center – 201 W. Lincoln Street, 931-455-5447. Must have proof of address and driver’s license, Thursdays noon – 2 p.m.
United Way of Highway 55 – Call 211 for assistance.
Damron’s Restaurant – 714 E. Lincoln Street, 931-454-0010. Free Dinner on Tuesdays from 5 – 6 p.m.
“For more information about each organization, please reach out to the contact information provided,” city officials said. “If you know someone in need, please share this with them.”
Due to the federal government shutdown, the Tennessee Department of Human Services has stated it cannot send out SNAP or food stamp benefits for November. For more updates from TDH, visit www.tn.gov/humanservices/federal-shutdown.

Also offering assistance is the Tullahoma City Schools Nutrition Department, as they remind residents that they offer free breakfast and lunch to all TCS students from Pre-K through 12th grade, since the district is a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) district.
