Coffee County gets its UT mural

The University of Tennessee Marketing Department has embarked on an ambitious campaign to have their “UT Everywhere You Look” murals placed in each of Tennessee’s 95 counties. County Mayor Dennis Hunt was pleased to get involved when he was contacted about Coffee County getting their mural.
Agriculture is still Tennessee’s top industry, and the mayor credits UT’s Institute of Agriculture in helping make that possible. With the County Technical Assistance Service, the UT Division of Forestry, the UT Agricultural Extension Office, and the UT Space Institute all active in Coffee County, Mayor Hunt has a deep appreciation for the university’s importance and impact in Tennessee.
Mayor Hunt offered use of the garage door at his business for the mural, and says he was honored to do so. An added advantage to Hunt’s business is that it faces the interstate. The UT team calculated that the mural could be seen by over 53,000 people daily. Other murals are on buildings, barns, water towers, silos, and there is even one on a tractor trailer rig.
The mural was completed last summer, but the marketing department only recently sent their photographer to take official pictures of the mural for their website. So far in the project, UT has put up 67 murals in 61 counties. Pictures of all of the murals to date can be found on the website, everywhere.tennessee.edu.
