Hayworth removed from FC coaching position

Franklin County High School head football coach Tracy Hayworth has been relieved of his duties, according to a statement from FCHS Principal Jeannie Miller.

The announcement came Monday just three days after the end of Hayworth’s third season at the helm of the Rebels.

“FCHS would like to thank Coach Hayworth for his service and contributions to our program,” Miller said in the statement.

Hayworth, a 1986 graduate of FCHS who played six seasons as a linebacker in the NFL, had been hired as the head coach in 2023 after working as an assistant coach for the Rebels for two seasons.

Hayworth played with the Detroit Lions in the NFL for six seasons, accumulating 104 total tackles, 10 sacks and an interception during his career.

After his playing days were over, Hayworth transitioned into coaching where he has held various roles at the collegiate and high-school levels since 2000.

Prior to returning to the Rebels in 2021, Hayworth was the head coach for Grundy County High School’s football program from 2018 to 2020.

The Rebels went 4-27 in Hayworth’s three seasons at the helm, including a playoff appearance in 2023.

The Rebels ended the 2025 season with a record of 1-9 as they lost their last seven games of the year.
