Barrage of threes decides game early between East and West basketball

GRAY DEYOSports Writer

The East and West game between the boys was decided fairly early, as the Bobcats went on to win this contest 43-13.

The West basketball team gained a large lead early in this game. This was done off of some great shot making and, most importantly, their team defense. East has good talent on its roster, but West was finding a way to make its players not get any clean looks at the basket. Everything they got was contested or were shots falling away from the basket. A few of these shots fell for the Panthers, but not at a sustainable clip.

On the other side of the court West offense was clicking on all cylinders on offense, especially from the perimeter. Bobcat Dominic Treuhaft played a hand in the first half perimeter shooting for West in making a three, and Josh Vincent made several. Vincent, in the first half, was making threes both on the move and standing still; he had a total of four threes in the opening two quarters. This helped the Bobcats get a huge lead. With under two minutes left in the second quarter, West led 23-8.

In the second half for West, they were able to continue to get their offense to flow, with a lot of their scoring to start the half coming in the paint. Eli Hibdon led this attack, getting a handful of buckets around the basket in the third period. West’s high-level defense was still present, as the East offense continued to struggle to score. This defense also led to many buckets in transition for the Bobcats in the final two quarters.

West’s next game will be against Coffee County Middle on Nov. 20, while East will be back in action next against Cascade on Nov. 18.
