As temperatures begin to cool, the Tullahoma Winter Shelter Project as released its schedule for the winter season.

In a statement, organizers said the shelters will officially open for overnight stays beginning Jan. 4, 2026. The times for the shelters will be from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., with some times varying by church. They added if temperatures drop below 32°F in December, they will do their best to open an emergency church location. Announcements about these emergency openings will be shared on the group’s Facebook page.

The organization noted that December availability will depend on volunteer support, so they encourage anyone interested in volunteering to sign up with their church or to contact Tom Murdock.

“We are deeply grateful for the local churches collaborating this effort by opening their doors and providing volunteers,” organizers said. “It truly takes a caring, active community to make this possible—and we have that.”

Tullahoma Winter Shelter Project also thanked Damron’s Restaurant for providing breakfast for those staying at churches and Courtesy Dry Cleaners for their continuing partnership to clean blankets between church changeover locations.

The Tullahoma Winter Shelter Project will also be sharing updates about specific items needed to support the shelter locations, and encouraged those interested to contact the churches directly to offer help.

“Thank you for helping provide warmth, safety, and compassion this winter,” organizers said.
