The city board of mayor and aldermen has accepted a max price of $632,780 from C&H Commercial Contractors to build the grounds maintenance facility at Waggoner Park.
The board voted to fund the project in its prior meeting so the most recent move was to vote on the contract. During the original meeting, members of the board voiced the need for the work to be itemized.
City Administrator Jason Quick pointed out that the construction firm did work for the city on another recent project and that they did “an outstanding job” on that contract.
“They did an excellent job and I’d expect them to do a similar job,” Quick said.
A representative from the company said they are fighting cost increases, noting that since the project was first discussed, they have likely lost $7,000 just in materials due to tariffs. The company hopes to have the material prices locked in before there are more material increases.
The board unanimously approved the awarding of contract.
