Protect Earth by going vegan
A new study in “Frontiers in Nutrition” offers a poignant reminder of the power that sits right on our plates. Researchers compared four dietary approaches—Mediterranean, pesco-vegetarian, ovo-lacto-vegetarian, and vegan—and found that the vegan menu reduced carbon emissions by a whopping 46%, cut land use by a third, and also decreased water use.
The message is simple: the more plants we eat, the lighter our footprint becomes. So let’s go vegan. Plant-powered foods, such as tofu, lentils, and oat milk, are not only healthy but also delicious. Plus, they save animals.
Animal agriculture prioritizes profit over animals—crowding them into tiny spaces despite the high risk of disease and infection. Then, when their short, miserable lives are over, they feel their first bit of fresh air as workers load them onto trucks destined for the slaughterhouse.
If you want to protect the Earth—and all its inhabitants—let’s go vegan. Visit PETA.org for tips on how to start.
