Eternal God, we have been taught to pray for your kingdom. Yet, it is so difficult to see where your kingdom is in our world. Thus our world needs Christmas at this hour; to remind us what your kingdom looks like. 

Amazingly it looks like a baby born in a manager: your kingdom comes in a stable, not a palace; found among the poor not the noble; invites all but appeals to the outsiders like shepherds, the seekers like the magi.

 Your kingdom functions from love not compulsion; its purpose is redemption not domination; and through faith we discover mystery not certainty.

Like a new born we know not what will be – our lives will be transformed – and we are found by the mystery we call God.

Whose name we pray.
