Know Your Enemy

K

Have you ever played a sport and not known who your enemy was prior to a game? Did you step on to a court or enter on to a field without knowing exactly who you were up against? If I had to guess, the answer would be a solid “No!”. Anytime we are preparing to face an opponent, it is wise to get to know their strengths and weaknesses. This assessment will give us insight into what we must do to meet their challenge and ultimately end in victory. This type of assessment is no different in the spiritual battles we face daily. It is important that we each find out what we are “up” against in an attempt to shut down the lies, anxiety, fear and insecurities that are produced when the thoughts overwhelm our faith. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11.

I know it is easy to presume that people are our enemy, but it is imperative that you understand that the spirits and wickedness of the devil are the real adversary in this lifetime. Think about a time when you were hurt by another person – the depthless of that pain is for you to decide – where was your anger directed? I imagine your anger, hurt and sadness was directed at the person who caused the pain, justifiable. But what if I told you that there was a greater force behind that person, a darkness used for purpose, that came to kill, steal and destroy your faith, thoughts and in some cases your life.

God has led me on a journey this last week to dig deeper and call out those things that seek to destroy parts of me. Were they generational spirits or curses that were never dealt with? Are they spirits that reside in our communities? Is it darkness that we have opened the doors to through the things we allow within our homes? The warfare is most certainly real, but have I addressed the true enemy? I realized as a child of God, I had put on the full armor, but I am still taking time to uncover, expose and stand against my enemy. Your healing and victory will never come in the natural, it is time to fight in the spiritual.

  1. Talk to God! It is never wise to carry out a battle plan without God. I encourage you to take time to talk with God and release the attack to Him.
  2. Hear from God! It is important to sit in God’s presence and allow Him to download into your heart exactly what spirit, demon or generational curse you are dealing with. This one may be hard (and scary), but it is time to grow up and begin learning the meat of God’s word and the season for which we face.
  3. Get a step-by-step instruction plan from God as to how you are fight across enemy lines. Maybe His instruction will be to move or maybe it will be to remain still- you cannot rush your attack. There is specific intelligence only He can provide about your opponent that must come through obedient ears can discernment.

Once you have identified the true wicked rival, not flesh, you will see that the victory will only come through prayer and fasting. It is most certainly easier to fight against the players on the team (those who work in the flesh), but to receive the ultimate triumph you MUST defeat the leader. It is my prayer this week that you pray for the courage and confidence to begin assessing the tormentor. I can promise you will find out very quickly that with God on your team, there is no match to the destruction He will cause when your feet hit that field. Get in that war room and start taking back your ground…. you wrestle not against flesh and blood.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” Ephesians 6:12.

Blessings,

Kayla
