City announces excellence in police service

The city of Tullahoma announced its awards for exemplary service in its police force during its recent board of mayor and aldermen meeting. The winners included:

2025 TPD Impact Leadership Award: Sgt. Willie Young

Leaders do not rely on titles; they lead through action, influence, and character. True leadership is shown by those who choose to serve, inspire, and take responsibility for others—earning trust and respect by adding value, building strong relationships, setting positive examples, communicating effectively, and solving problems with integrity. We proudly recognize an individual within our department who embodies these leadership qualities, regardless of rank or official position.

2025 TPD Officer of the Year Award: FTO Vincent Cooley

Chosen by their peers, this award honors the officer who has demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the year. Recognition is based on professional police skills, the number and quality of cases worked and solved, and proficiency in the diverse roles in which they serve. This award celebrates the officer whose dedication, effectiveness, and service have made a meaningful impact within the department and community.

2025 TPD Top Shot Firearms Training Award: Cpl. Kandace McGee

This award recognizes the officer who demonstrates superior marksmanship, proficiency, and dedication to ongoing firearms training. Presented annually to the officer achieving the highest score in TPD Firearms Qualifications, this honor reflects exceptional discipline, technical skill, and commitment to professional excellence.
