Tullahoma City Schools is thrilled to announce that Dr. Susan Sudberry has been appointed the new TCS Deputy Director of Schools, effective July 1.

“I am honored and excited to serve as the new Deputy Director of Tullahoma City Schools,” said Dr. Sudberry. “Having the opportunity to support our students, staff, and families while helping advance the district’s mission is both a privilege and a responsibility that I embrace with great enthusiasm. I am grateful for the strong foundation of excellence that Dr. April Norris has built in this role and throughout our district, and I look forward to building upon that success. I look forward to working with dedicated educators, staff, families, and community partners to ensure that every student has the opportunities needed to reach their full potential.”

Dr. Sudberry will step into the Deputy Director role after the TCS Board of Education chose Dr. April Norris to serve as the new TCS Director of Schools. Dr. Sudberry is currently the district’s Director of Technology, a position that she has held since August 2020. Before serving in her current role, Dr. Sudberry began at TCS as a math and computational science teacher at Tullahoma High School until 2003. She then moved to the technology department as an instructional technology specialist.

“Dr. Sudberry is the ideal choice for the next Deputy Director,” said Dr. Norris. “She complements my leadership style and is firmly grounded in policies. She brings a unique skill set and mindset that will enhance our overall operational functions. With her diverse experience and in-depth understanding of multiple departments as well as teaching and learning, she is equipped to offer valuable perspectives and tackle challenges within the district.

“Dr. Sudberry is someone people call on when help is needed, which speaks volumes,” Dr. Norris continued. “She gets things done, and if she doesn’t know the answer, she’ll work to find the solution. Her vast knowledge, collaborative work across multiple departments and determination to find answers exemplify what I need in my Deputy Director. I am eager for the opportunity to work more closely with Dr. Sudberry. She has built strong relationships with staff, faculty, members of the leadership team, families and community stakeholders. Her dedication and work ethic are second to none.”
