Local DYW compete at State
Tullahoma’s Distinguished Young Women participated in the Tennessee State Distinguished Young Women Program July 12 - 18 in Cleveland, TN. They stayed with host families for the week participating in volunteer work and workshops. Friday and Saturday night Brindley Duncan and Lily Duckworth competed to earn the title of the TN Distinguished Young Women. Brindley was name the People’s Choice Award winner and earned a preliminary award in the Fitness Category. Lily earned preliminary awards in the categories of Scholastics, Interview, Fitness, and Self-Expression and was named the 2nd Alternate to the Distinguished Young Woman of Tennessee.
Hickerson VFD and County Rescue Squad receive grants from State Fire Marshal
The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI), along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, honored several local volunteer fire departments and rescue squads, including Coffee County’s Rescue Squad and Hickerson Volunteer Fire Department, with a luncheon and awarded a total of over $2.6 million in grants.

During the summer, Tullahoma High School learned it was the recipient of two grants totaling $52,417.77, which will go toward Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.

The Tennessee State Fair is inviting local farmers and youth to showcase their best entries this year. The Coffee County Extension team is seeking exceptional representation from Coffee County. Their office will coordinate the collection and entry of Hay and Crop exhibits, as well as Canning exhibits and youth exhibits.
