Mary “MO” O. Nisbett Obituary

Mary “MO” O Nisbett of Tullahoma passed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at NHC of Tullahoma at the age of 88.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 705 Wilson Avenue, Tullahoma with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Nisbett was the daughter of the late Denis and Mary Armstrong Smith. She was raised in Prattville, AL and graduated from Auburn University. MO was a member of Trinity Luteran Church. She enjoyed showing and riding Tennessee Walking Horses and was a member of the Walking Horse Association and the Tennessee Walking Breeders Association.  She was a charter member of the Motlow College Foundation and received the Tennessee State Board of Regents Chancellor’s Award for Philanthropy at Motlow College.  The Motlow gymnasium, the Nisbett Center, is named after her and her late husband, Dr. Harry Nisbett.

She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Auburn and UT Football fan. She also enjoyed baking and would make fruit cakes and fudge as Christmas presents for many of her friends.

Mrs. Nisbett is survived by her children, Denis Nisbett (Lynn) of Tullahoma, Mary Johnson (Sammy) of Statesboro, GA and Mac Nisbett (Allison) of McDonough, GA; grandchildren, Marshall Nisbett of Gallatin, Jennifer Nisbett Stroop (Richie) of Tullahoma, Bess Burnett of Lawrenceville, GA, Robbie Nisbett of McDonough, GA, Christie Aldrich of Statesboro, GA, Kelly Robison Miller (Chris) of Statesboro, GA and Tucker Hall of Statesboro, GA, eight great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in her honor to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Tullahoma Animal Shelter.
