Peggy Smith Rowe, 89, of Estill Springs, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Vanderbilt-Harton Hospital in Tullahoma.  She was born in Moore County on Oct. 11, 1934, to the late Lloyd and Mattie (Tucker) Smith. 

Before her retirement, Peggy was employed as an insurance agent at Creasman Insurance and V.R. Williams Insurance Company.  For many years she volunteered at the Good Samaritan Center.  She was a master gardener and an avid cook.  She enjoyed feeding her family and trying new recipes, as well as watching cooking shows.  Eventually, Peggy authored her own cookbook.  She was an active member of The United Methodist Church of Estill Springs and loved her church family there.  A friend to all, a mother to so many more than her own children, she always took time to listen to all with a caring ear and heart.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howell H. Rowe; and grandson, Chris Rowe.  Peggy is survived by her loving children, Alan (Beverly) Rowe of Estill Springs, Doug (Kathy) Rowe of Cullowhee, North Carolina, and Donna (Derric) Brown of Waynesville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Josh (Elizabeth) Rowe, Matthew Rowe, Zachary (Joy) Rowe, and Elizabeth (Jonathan) Sanders; nine great-grandchildren; and many friends. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1 in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Franklin County Library or The United Methodist Church of Estill Springs.
