Jane Ella Modrall, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and great-aunt, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the age of 100.

Jane was born on Sept. 28, 1923, to the late James Alfred Davis and Katherine Davis of Blount County. She moved to Manchester upon graduating from the University of Tennessee for a one-year teaching assignment; she then moved to Shelbyville for a one-year teaching assignment where she met her husband, she then moved to Tullahoma for a teaching assignment.  Jane also received Master’s degree at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU).

She held two jobs during her years in Tullahoma, including teaching Home Economics at West Junior High, and Food Services Director for Tullahoma City Schools.  Jane was also a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Tullahoma. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Modrall; and sister Juanita Davis Burkhalter. Jane is survived by her son, Alfred Lewis (Kathy); two grandchildren, Michael Andrew Modrall (Leah) and Sara Ashleigh Somerall (John); and two great grandchildren Daisy Olivia and Lily Jane Modrall.  A graveside service for Mrs. Modrall will take place Saturday, June 1, at 9 a.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. This will be followed by a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Tullahoma, and a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. also at First Presbyterian with Pastor Stephen Yates officiating. A reception for friends and family will be held at the church following the service. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Jane’s memory be made to First United Presbyterian Church at 204 East Grundy Street; Tullahoma, TN  37388.

Jane celebrated her 100^th birthday on Sept. 28 at Brookdale Senior Living. She was honored as a Centenarian, and received a certificate as well as a letter from Governor Lee which proclaimed that Sept. 28 was National Jane Modrall Day.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Senior Center for the excellent care that Jane received during her time there.
