Christine Ann Cranford Obituary

Christine Ann Cranford of Tullahoma passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at NHC-Tullahoma at the age of 94.

Mrs. Cranford was born in Moultrie, GA to the late Charles Vincent Ragan Sr. and Sally Norman Ragan. During her life, Christine worked as the secretary for Cranford Electric, and was a member of College St. Baptist Church. She and her husband had been charter members of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church, and Christine had a longtime card ministry where she sent out thousands of cards over the years to family, friends, and anyone throughout the community who was in need of encouragement. Christine will be fondly remembered by those who love her as “quite a character”, who had the gift of laughter, and always had a joke ready. She would always bring a written joke to her doctors’ appointments that she would leave for the doctors and nurses to share and enjoy. She found joy in flowers, birds, and classic movies- in particular “The Waltons” and “Little House on the Prairie”. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cranford was preceded in death by her husband, Harvie Cranford; two sons, David Anthony Cranford, and Robert Wayne Cranford; one daughter, Linda Diane Hay; two brothers, John Henry Ragan, and Charles Vincent Ragan, Jr; and one sister, Docia Mae Sapp.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ann Durham (Michael), Mary Jane Short (Richard), and Martha Jean Moore (Philip); seven grandchildren, Clint Short, Suzanne Newman (Joe), Jennifer Greer (James), Christopher Alan Moore, Diana Merwin (Patrick), Melanie Cranford, and Kimberly Hay; 12 great-grandchildren, Joe Carson, Georgianne, Debra Louise, Jordan Michael, Alexandria, Christian, Zoe, Logan Ray, Bruce Harvie, Aaron, Hayden, and Jaxon; and two great-great-grandchildren, Freedom Rose, and Chase Connor.

A private graveside service was held Tuesday. For those who wish, the family asks that donations in Christine’s memory be made to either the American Cancer Society – P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718; or College Street Baptist Church, 207 N. College St. Tullahoma, TN 37388.

Kilgore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
