Jack Richard DeWitt Obituary
Jack Richard DeWitt, 89, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at his home in Nashville.
He born in Greeneville, Tennessee May 10, 1935. Jack was predeceased by parents: Roscoe and Ruth DeWitt; siblings: Bill DeWitt and Barbara DeWitt Olmstead; brother-in-law and fishing buddy: Buford Neas; brother-in-law: Floyd Olmstead and nephew: Shannon Johnson.
Left to grieve his loss are fiancée: Edwana Boucher of Nashville; sisters: Judy DeWitt Neas and Peggy DeWitt Renner (Andrew; sister-in-law: Karen DeWitt; six nieces and nephews: Lori Neas Bragdon (Barrett), Mike Neas (Andrea), Ritchie Renner (Je’Lee), Chris Renner, Mark DeWitt and Cheryl DeWitt; as well as several great-nieces and nephews and many loyal friends.
Jack was raised on the family farm in Greene County and graduated from Greeneville High School, ETSU, and UT Knoxville. With a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, he practiced his craft for 36 years at Arnold Engineering and Development Center, now Complex (AEDC) in Tullahoma. He was an eager collector of tools and knew how to use them all skillfully. If it broke, Jack could fix it. If it was needed, Jack could design it. He served in the Marine Forces Reserve having survived boot camp at Parris Island, SC.
He enjoyed many years of participation in his Tullahoma community theatre as actor, director, set builder and even custodian. He loved all types of music from show tunes to classical symphonies and everything in between.
Intelligent and multi-talented with a well-developed sense of humor, Jack was kind, humble and loved by all who were privileged to know him. This world has lost one of the good ones.

Graveside Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens, Greeneville. Pallbearers will be Andrew Renner, Ritchie Renner, Chris Renner, Mike Neas, Mark DeWitt and Barrett Bragdon. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Watt, Robert Brown, Jeff Swink, Leroy Baird, Dale Winland, Mark Winland and David Susong. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, Alive Hospice of Nashville or any charity of your choice.
