William (Billy) Francis Pack, Jr., 77, of Chattanooga passed away peacefully on Oct. 15, 2024, after a life richly lived in service and kindness.

Billy was born on March 5, 1947 in Tullahoma to the late William and Bettie Pack.

In 1965 he graduated from Tullahoma High School where he was an outstanding athlete. Billy went on to study at the Marion Military Institute before joining the United States Air Force Academy in 1966. Billy was a patriot and very honored to have served his country. Billy had a penchant for mathematics and data analytics which served him well as he pursued a Master of Science degree in Engineering from Tennessee Tech University where he graduated in 1970. Being an engineer suited Billy and he enjoyed his work with the Tennessee Valley Authority where he retired in 1984.

Outside of his technological pursuits, Billy has passionate about sports was honored to have officiated high school football in Tennessee alongside all four of his brothers and their father. Off the field, his dedication to the University of Tennessee athletics is well known as he never missed an opportunity to support his beloved Volunteers. He instilled this passion in own family as his wife, sons and grandchildren all enjoyed watching UT sporting events together.

Billy is survived by a large family, including: his loving wife of 54 years Mary Evelyn, sons Will (Amanda) and Scott, grandchildren Ava Marie, James, and Christopher, brothers Bob (Grace), Dick (Nell), Kenny (Janie), Pat (Ginny Lynn), sister Ginny (Dan), sister-in-law Mickey Wynne (Ronnie), brother-in-law Bobby Jones (Yvonne) and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Most importantly, Billy was a devout Catholic and man of great faith. He loved God, his family and friends deeply. He will be missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.

May you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you from the dust of the earth. May holy Mary, the angels and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone forth from this life. May Christ who was crucified for you, bring you freedom and peace.

Billy will be honored in a celebration of life on Oct. 26, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 501 S. Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Visiting hours are from 9 to 11 a.m. with a ceremony to follow.
