Nancye Faye Laster Lindsey Obituary

Nancye Faye Laster Lindsey, 84, crossed over the rainbow bridge, passing from this life on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024.

She passed peacefully in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Penny Lindsey, in Aiea, Hawai’i, with Martin by her side, after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Nancye was born January 29th, 1940, in Morgan, Pendleton County, Ky., to Marion Preston Laster and Nina Faye Lynn Laster, both originally from Obion County, Tenn. The family moved to Dresden, Tenn., from 1941-1945 and then to Macon, Ga., in 1946, where Nancye graduated from Miller High School in 1958. She completed three years at Auburn University before marrying CDR James Allen Lindsey (USN-ret) on June 4, 1960. They had numerous duty stations, including Charleston, South Carolina, where their daughter Nancye Kimberly was born in 1963 and Newport, Rhode Island, where their son Martin Forrester was born in 1971. The Navy sent them to Georgetown, TX, in 1978, where Nancye lived for the next 28 years, raising her two children and working as an education assistant in the Georgetown public schools. In 1996, Nancye moved to Tullahoma, to be near her brother, Marion Lynn Laster, and his family. They spent time together nearly every day. Nancye was a loving Christian and a life-long faithful member of the Church of Christ, attending church regularly wherever she lived, most notably the Wilson Avenue Church in Tullahoma, where she was an active member from 1996-2022. She was selflessly devoted to tending to her friends’ and family’s needs. She leaves behind her two children, as well as one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Connor and Michelle Lindsey, also of Aiea, Hawai’i. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Nancye is survived by three nieces, a nephew and several cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 from noon to 2 p.m. with the funeral to immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Randy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Kilgore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
