Eugene Clarke Knox Obituary
Eugene Clarke Knox, 90, of Tullahoma passed away on Feb. 16, 2025 at Life Care Center of Hickory Woods in Davidson County, Tennessee, where he was recovering following a hospital stay.
Eugene (EC or Gene) was born in Atlanta, Ga., in 1934. He first came to love the Tullahoma area while attending St. Andrew’s in Sewanee for high school. He attended Georgia Tech for his bachelor’s degree, and Virginia Tech for his master’s degree, with both degrees in aeronautical engineering. While attending Georgia Tech, he met the love of his life, Carolyn, marrying her in 1956. Eugene and Carolyn were blessed with over 60 year marriage together.
Eugene had a successful career in aeronautical engineering. While working on his master’s degree at Virginia Tech, he worked for NACA (subsequently NASA). In 1961, he began work at AEDC, giving him the opportunity to move to Tullahoma, the area he’d come to love in high school. In 1980, he went to work at Rockwell International and subsequently, Remtech, Inc. He finished his career by starting his own consulting firm, contracting directly with the Department of Defense.
Eugene is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, his parents Charles and Pauline Knox, his brother Edward and sister Mary. He is survived by his son Phillip (Lori) of Murfreesboro, daughter Deborah of Murfreesboro and granddaughter Megan (Jared) of West Palm Beach, Fla.
The family will be hosting a visitation on Friday, Feb.28, 2025, at Tullahoma Funeral Home beginning at Four O’clock in the evening until Seven O’clock in the evening. A funeral service will be held at The New Creation Church of Tullahoma on Saturday, March 1, 2025, beginning at Eleven O’clock in the morning.
