William G. “Bill” Welsh Obituary

William G. “Bill” Welsh, passed into the arms of Christ on June 15, 2025 in Cordova.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1956 in Tullahoma to Clement J. Welsh and Loretta H. Welsh. Bill was an accomplished musician who began playing for services at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tullahoma when he was ten years old. He received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga and a Master’s of Arts in Music from Middle Tennessee State University. He was employed as the Music Director at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Memphis for over thirty years. He was preceded in death by his father, Clement.

Bill is survived by his mother, Loretta, his siblings and their spouses, J. Patrick and Beth Welsh, Clement J. Welsh II and Karen Schmeichel, Jim and Ann Welsh Scarry, Robert H. and Jane Welsh, his nieces and nephews, John Welsh, Martha Haynes, Michael Welsh, Abby Alusheff, Daniel Welsh, Matthew Welsh, and David Welsh, and friends, Faye Morrison, Deacon Henry Littleton, and the staff at Shelby Gardens Assisted Living. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Memphis celebrated by Father Ruben Villalon-Rivera on Thursday, July 3 at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service will take place Monday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma with Father Stephen Klasek officiating.

Kilgore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
