James R. Bryant Obituary
James R. Bryant, 78, of Manchester, passed from this life on July 17, 2025. Born in Anniston, AL, on May 3, 1947, James attended Southern Missionary College (now Southern Adventist University) and The University of Alabama. He received degrees in Accounting and Theology. He was a CPA in Tullahoma, for more than 25 years before returning to school at Birmingham School of Law, where he received his J.D. He practiced law in Anniston and Huntsville, Alabama until his retirement.
James was a lifelong, die-hard Alabama fan and lived for football season. He was rarely seen without wearing some kind of Bama gear. He passed this life peacefully, covered with his favorite Alabama blanket.
James is survived by his son, James R. “Jamie” Bryant II, of Tullahoma, his daughter, Melissa Bryant Johnson, and son-in-law, James Johnson, of Madison, Alabama. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Evan Alford, of Waterford, MI; Trace, Claire, and Clayton Bryant, and Ben Hosea of Coffee County; Abigail, Jake, and Shawn Johnson of Madison, AL, and Keaton Johnson of Marietta, GA. He was the only child of Hubert R. and Nonnie Rae Bryant, who preceded him in death.
The family will be holding a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Greater Huntsville Humane Society in Huntsville, AL, or your local animal shelter.
