Tullahoma wrestlers compete at Junior National Duals

The Tullahoma High School wrestling program, which has become one of, if not the most elite, Tullahoma High School sports program, has undoubtedly come from its grapplers putting in an immense amount of work behind the scenes. That work has continued through this offseason, with two Wildcats, Knox Grimes and CJ Weaver, representing THS on the Tennessee 16U Junior National Duals Team.

Grimes and Weaver at the Junior National Duals were under some familiar coaching with Tullahoma assistant High School wrestling coach, Hunter VanDerworp, helping coach Team TN. They had some solid success at the big-time Wrestling meet. As a team they finished eighth overall in their pool and had an overall record of 3-1 in day two of the National Duals. Weaver at the event went 2-2 in his matches.

Both Weaver and Grimes helped lead the charge in the underclassmen of the THS wrestling team being at a high-level. They stepped up time and time again in the 2025-2026 season that saw Tullahoma go to both state in duals and saw the two both qualify for state individuals.

Weaver, notably as a freshman in his respective weight class, placed the highest at the state individuals’ tournament that any Wildcat grappler did, as he placed third overall. He was also named to the Class A All Mid-State Team along with two of his teammates, Corbin Avans and Kiivon Butler.

Grimes was consistent throughout the season, and as mentioned, stepped up when Tullahoma needed him to. One of his best and most meaningful wins of the season came against Greenbrier High School in a sectionals duals matchup. He was able to get a win by an 18-6 major decision, which contributed to the Wildcats stamping their spot yet again in the state tournament duals.
